Trains never stop

Iarnrod Eireann trains are no longer idle when parked in the sidings, but are connected to local grids generating electricity. The Biodiesel powered trains generate half a megawatt each and the company estimates that the revenue from this new sideline will allow them to progress their plans to move the all electric trains. Facilities are currently available at Mallow, Westport and Mullingar and plans to roll across the country are being early taken up by local councils.
