TaxiBus service a hit

The TaxiBus company will now be nationwide as their service expands into the north west. Their innovative use of technology providing the benefits of door to door transport with the pricing of bus networks took off when it was first introduced in West Cork in 2008. The initial service simply required that you book your journey online or via your phone, stating your departure point and destination and the latest time you could arrive at your destination. A computer system then calculated the most efficient route and size of vehicle, to take to pick up the maximum number of passengers and meet all their needs. Priority was given to those who booked early. The system has since become much more sophisticated, as people worked out how to use the system. Neighbour were getting together an arranging to go shopping at the same time because this gave them the maximum chance of getting a direct service. It is now possible to bid for your trip, offering a higher price to get a more direct service or saying you are happy to pay less to fit in with others needs. The network of vehicle providers is also expanding as those with large private cars register so that when they are making journeys they can check to see if they can pick up passengers and therefore cover the cost of their journey. A parcel delivery service is planned for next year.
